Feature and Follow Friday (7)

Feature and Follow Friday is hosted over at Parajunkee and Allison Can Read. This week's question:

Q: Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

I feel like, for me, it's the other way around. Reading improves my mood, almost always. If I'm reading an upsetting or uncomfortable book, I become upset. If it's a funny book, I feel good. I think my mood influences my reading habits in regards to how much I actually read, rather than influencing me to change the kinds of books.

Feel free to leave a comment or follow any way you please! (Twitter - Goodreads - RSS)

  1. i agree. a book can make you more depressed if it's heavy. I tend to read light and fluffy.

  2. Hopping through. Reading often influences my mood too. Reading Laurie Halse Anderson's Speak on my birthday, for example, was a bad idea.

  4. Same way! Reading usually makes me either happy or sad depending on the book if it's amazing or a sad read. Great answer! New follwer! :)

  8. For me I find my mood changes the genre that I want to read. I go through blocks where I only read one genre, then I randomly change to another one. But I don't find myself reading certain books because of the way I feel. Although I do find that the way I feel has an impact on how much I enjoy the book! So if I'm angry or sad I try and take a break from reading till I get over it :)
